Shelter Friends, Inc., is a fundraising/networking group that primarily pays vet bills for strays, rescues or owned animals whose owners cannot afford life-saving treatments, surgeries or meds for their animals. In 2024 we paid out over $213,000 in vet bills to save animals all over the Midwest. We also pay tens of thousands of dollars a year to spay and neuter every animal we can as we believe spaying and neutering is the only way out of the vicious cycle we are in of having way too many dogs and cats in this world and not enough adopters.

We also do in-field rescue work. We trap cats and dogs, we rescue injured wildlife: rabbits, ducks, geese, and we provide life-saving veterinary care for them too. We pay for cats to be rescued out of trees and duct work and inside walls! Anything and everything it takes to save an animal's life.
