Second Chance Shelter
About us
Second Chance Shelter is a 501(c) (3) non-profit, no-kill dog shelter. We rescue most of our dogs the day they are scheduled to be euthanized. We save their lives and provide a safe environment for them until they are adopted. Second Chance Shelter was founded in 2008, we are located in North Alabama. We have since partnered with Second Chance North, a foster based volunteer rescue group in Ripon Wisconsin. We transport dogs to Wisconsin monthly. Our dogs are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped prior to their adoptions. Once a dog is adopted, we will always accept it back into our shelter if the person can no longer keep it. Although we are fortunate to have the support of many generous donors, we struggle financially due to the overwhelming healthcare, transportation and food costs. Part of our mission is to educate and enlighten the community regarding the impact that the overpopulation of dogs is having locally, and to emphasize the importance of spaying and neutering. We are working diligently to save as many dogs as possible. We believe every dog has a story and every story deserves a happy ending.
