About us
Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) provides accommodation and a caring, supportive environment for families whose children are undergoing medical treatment at CHI at Crumlin. To us, keeping families close is what matters the most. RMHC is located on the grounds of Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin, Dublin and provides accommodation and support to 20 families every night who have seriously ill or long-term sick children. Since opening our doors in 2004, we have looked after 4,495 families from all 32 counties in Ireland
The RMHC ethos is built around family-centred care and "Keeping Families Close" as we believe that “A family with a sick child is a sick family”. Children whose families stay at the Ronald McDonald House tend to be the sickest, have travelled the furthest and spend the longest time in hospital.
The Ronald McDonald House affords families’ the ability to spend more time with their child, interact with the clinical team and participate in medical care decisions. It also allows siblings and other family members to be present, engaged and close. Our main activity and focus every day is providing accommodation, care and support for families when they need it most. RMHC Ireland helps families to face the weight of illness together. Families are stronger when they are together, which helps in the healing process.
Supporting RMHC allows us to reduce some of the financial burden of families staying with us who would ordinarily face huge out of pocket expenses for accommodation.
