The Police Activities League of Massena started in 2013 with the goal of helping the children in Massena and the surrounding area. Many school-aged youth in our area are often unsupervised on weekday afternoons while parents/guardians are working, as well as throughout the summers. We are here to help this situation. Our after-school program serves approximately 135 children in Grades 2 - 12 from 2-6 pm during the school year. Our summer program runs from 8 am - 3:30 pm and serves approximately 80 children from Grades 2 - 12. We are entirely funded through grants, donations and fundraising activities. We provide our children with community service opportunities, academic support, guest presenters, field trips, and STEM activities including robotics and eSports programs. We also provide social/emotional learning experiences, arts/crafts, recreation, leadership and life skills development, mentoring and weekly lessons on ways to avoid the use of and activities that lead to the use of illicit substances and build positive leadership skills. We provide nutritious snacks and meals to the children in our programs every day and make sure they have clothes, school supplies and positive holiday experiences. We take care of the children and families who need us most.
