CARAAF, a California-based non-profit 501©(3) organization, has dedicated the past five years to supporting rescue dogs and their families. Our mission is to provide hope and healing for rescue dogs with serious medical needs by offering financial assistance to their loving families across the continental United States. Our commitment to rescue dogs stems from our belief that every dog deserves a chance at a healthy and fulfilling life. We understand the emotional and financial strain that serious medical conditions can place on families, and we strive to alleviate that burden.CARAAF was founded by two compassionate women, Kris Wood and Gail Hubbard, in honor of their beloved Beagles, Cowboy and Rousseau. Tragically, both Cowboy and Rousseau were diagnosed with cancer. Kris and Gail did everything in their power to provide the best possible care for their dogs, managing their quality of life alongside the heavy financial strains of treatment. To honor Cowboy and Rousseau’s memory, they established CARAAF, aiming to help other families facing similar challenges and provide essential medical attention to rescue dogs in need. We offer grants to cover medical expenses for rescue dogs facing serious health challenges. By easing the financial burden, we empower families to prioritize their pets’ well-being.CARAAF stands out in the rescue community by offering significant financial awards to families of rescue dogs during critical times.We do not provide loans, nor do we expect reimbursement.We are not breed-specific and have no age minimums or limits. Families who have adopted rescue dogs are eligible for our assistance. Unlike some organizations, we do not require a positive prognosis for funding.Our team operates entirely on a volunteer basis, driven by passion and dedication.Our grants range from $500 to $2000. To date, CARAAF has assisted over 69 families by providing crucial financial support during their time of need. Our impact extends beyond individual families; it ripples through communities, fostering compassion and resilience. CARAAF’s unwavering dedication to rescue dogs and their families drives us forward.
