The Humane Society’s Pets Fur People is a selective admission, life-sustaining animal shelter dedicated to giving every animal in our care the love, attention, and second chance they deserve. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to provide a temporary haven for dogs and cats until they find their forever families.

We are deeply committed to reducing—and ultimately eliminating—euthanasia as a means of population control for unwanted pets. Through community education, compassion, and action, we promote the life-saving benefits of spay/neuter programs to the animals we take in in order to help end dog and cat overpopulation. We also take pride in teaching responsible pet guardianship, ensuring that every adoption leads to a lasting, loving relationship.

Our work is made possible through the dedication of volunteers who share our passion for animals. Whether it’s helping care for our dogs and cats, assisting with shelter maintenance, lending a hand at off-site events and fundraisers, or supporting administrative and outreach efforts—every volunteer makes a meaningful difference.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to be building a foster program and working toward the establishment of a spay/neuter clinic—two vital initiatives that will expand our life-saving impact even further.
