Open Table is a small but mighty grassroots organisation working to reduce food insecurity, food waste, and social isolation in Melbourne’s inner north. Each week, with the help of dedicated volunteers, we rescue surplus food that would otherwise go to landfill and transform it into free, healthy community lunches, fresh food markets, and a 24-hour community pantry.

Our programs support people doing it tough — families, older residents, students, newly arrived migrants, and people living in public housing — while also bringing neighbours together to share a meal and connect. In the past year, we’ve provided thousands of free meals, rescued over 20 tonnes of food, and created inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome.
