About us
The National Education Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder (NEABPD) Australia is a not-for-profit organisation that is dedicated to supporting families and carers of people living with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), BPD traits or Chronic Emotional Dysregulation (CED)
Drawing on the latest global research on BPD, we aim to raise awareness, reduce stigma and discrimination, and educate the wider community on BPD. Through our signature Family Connections™ program, we teach family members the key skills they need to better support their loved ones, but more importantly, give these family members hope.
The Family Connections™ program is the only free 12 week evidence-based program in Australia to support families caring for someone with BPD or who experience personality disorder, emotional dysregulation, self-harm behaviours, suicide attempts and other associated mental health issues.
Our program is based on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) which is a type of cognitive-behavioural therapy. The main goals are to teach people to develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate emotions, and improve their relationships with others.
Family Connections™ is free for all participants, ensuring that we deliver ‘access for all’ care, and delivered by a team of volunteer leaders, who are a combination of peer and professional leaders.
Over 1000 programs have been run in Australia since 2015. We currently have a list of over 2500+ families nationally awaiting access to one of our programs. Fortunate enough to be a part of the global family of NEABPD organisations, we benefit from a wealth of scientific knowledge, evidence-based specialist family programs and a strong international voice.
