About us
Multiple Sclerosis Auckland is a charity that exists to inform, educate and provide personalised support services to people who have multiple sclerosis as well as their families, caregivers, friends and employers. We are the only organisation that provides support to people with MS in greater Auckland region and have been doing so for 60 years.
Our Vision is ‘People with MS living a full life’. Our Mission is 'Connecting today - Inspiring tomorrow'. Our goal is to see people diagnosed with MS 'LIVE WELL' despite the diagnosis and not simply survive. We feel passionately that people faced with multiple sclerosis should have access to as much support, information, guidance and personal service as possible to enable them to best understand and live with the complexities of this debilitating disease.
• Multiple Sclerosis is an auto-immune disease of the central nervous system and is one of the most common neurological disorders amongst young people in New Zealand
• MS is the biggest cause of non-accident-related disability in young people
• It is often called the ‘Prime of Life Disease’ because symptoms usually appear for the first time between the ages of 20 and 40
• At present there is NO CURE and nobody knows precisely what causes the disease
• In New Zealand, Multiple Sclerosis affects approximately 5,000 people. That’s one in every 1,000 New Zealanders
“I cannot speak highly enough of the profound difference the support from MS Auckland makes in my life” – Kate G
Every $1 donated, granted or funded to MS Auckland provides $8.50 in measurable social benefit to New Zealanders - a return on investment of 850%!
Please support people affected by multiple sclerosis by supporting MS Auckland.
