Eco Barge Clean Seas Inc. — Protecting the Whitsundays Through Community Care

Eco Barge Clean Seas Inc. is a community-driven charity dedicated to protecting the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef from marine debris and plastic pollution.

Since 2009, our volunteers have removed over 268,000 kilograms of marine debris from the Whitsunday region through hands-on clean-up expeditions to remote islands and coastlines. Every trip prevents plastics, ghost nets and harmful debris from injuring marine life and damaging fragile ecosystems.

At our Eco Barge HQ, the Whitsunday Turtle Rescue Centre provides care and rehabilitation for sick and injured turtles impacted by plastic ingestion, boat strikes and poor water quality. We have cared for more than 297 turtles, giving these ancient mariners the chance to heal and return to the sea.

Our work doesn’t stop at collection. Through our Marine Debris Recycling Project, we transform recovered ocean plastics into new products and educational tools — turning pollution into possibility.

Eco Barge is powered by people. With over 14,000 volunteers involved since our beginnings, we are a community united by care for the ocean.

Your support helps us remove debris, rescue turtles, educate visitors, and protect the life that calls the Whitsundays home.
