mindDog is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting people living with mental health challenges to train and accredit their own psychiatric assistance dogs. We work alongside clients and their dogs across Australia, helping them build the skills, confidence and partnership needed to navigate the world more safely and independently.

For many of our clients, daily life can feel overwhelming or isolating. A mindDog can provide grounding during panic attacks, interrupt harmful behaviours, create a sense of safety in public spaces, and offer constant, non-judgemental support. Through this unique bond, our clients are able to reconnect with their communities, return to work or study, and regain a sense of purpose and control in their lives.

mindDogs do more than provide companionship. They change lives in profound and lasting ways. For some, they are the difference between isolation and participation. For others, they are quite literally life-saving.

We support individuals living with a wide range of conditions, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, agoraphobia, bipolar disorder, ADHD, borderline personality disorder, eating disorders, and autism. Every partnership we help create is a step towards a fuller, more independent, and more hopeful future.
