La Casa de las Madres responds to calls for help from domestic violence victims of all ages, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. From 1976 to today, La Casa has sustained a lifeline for domestic violence survivors and provides a continuum of domestic violence intervention and prevention services that evolved to meet the diverse needs of women, children, and teens escaping abuse. Through the pandemic, La Casa's 35-bed confidentially located emergency shelter maintained 24-hour uninterrupted access to a trauma-informed, "safety first," safe harbor allowing survivors the physical and emotional space to think, heal, and assess their next steps. Last year, La Casa engaged more than 13,000 people in domestic violence intervention and prevention by responding to 8,057 calls for help, educating 2,996 community members, and supporting 2,335 survivors through intervention programs and support services. The overarching goal of our program is to protect and empower domestic violence survivors of all ages, giving them hope, support, and resources to break free from interrelated cycles of violence, trauma, and poverty and build and sustain healthy, vibrant, joyful lives free from abuse.
