Kitten Rescue is a non-profit organization devoted to rescuing and rehabilitating homeless cats and kittens and placing them into loving homes.

The core of what we do at Kitten Rescue is rescue, foster, care for, and adopt out cats and kittens. We do this to prevent them from dying on the streets or being euthanized at LA City Shelters. We rescue cats and kittens from a variety of situations. Most live in volunteer foster homes. Our volunteers care for all types of cats and kittens. We care for orphaned and abandoned kittens that need to be bottle-fed around the clock, moms with litters, cats that need socialization, and sick or injured animals. We care for the animals until they are old enough, healthy enough, and socialized enough. At that point, our volunteers work to find amazing, forever homes for them.

The Kitten Rescue Sanctuary is a private, no-kill cat sanctuary located in the Atwater Village area of Los Angeles, California. The Sanctuary houses approximately 150 cats at any given time. Many of them are highly adoptable cats waiting to find their forever homes. Others may spend the rest of their lives here — either because they are feral, have a chronic medical condition, or are elderly and therefore less likely to be adopted. What they all have in common is that they are safe, loved and well cared for by our Kitten Rescue staff and our dedicated volunteers.

In 2016, we opened the Kitten Nursery, co-located at the KR Sanctuary. The Kitten Nursery helps us care for large numbers of unweaned, neonatal kittens rescued from LA City Shelters. These kittens need round-the-clock care in order to survive. Kitten Rescue dedicated staff and volunteers care for these “bottle babies” and tiny kittens until they are ready for weaning, at which point they are moved into foster care homes and made available for adoption.

Between the cats at our facility and in foster care, Kitten Rescue cares for around 1,600 animals at any given time.

We have multiple life-saving programs at Kitten Rescue. A cornerstone of what we do is outreach and education. Kitten Rescue educates the public on responsible pet guardianship. We teach people how to care for kittens and cats, and explain the importance of spaying and neutering.  We coach people on Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and managing feral cat colonies. Our Cats on Pawtrol Working Cat Program saves feral cats from shelter euthanasia and places them as organic rodent control. During kitten season, our volunteers also teach bottle-feeding classes for people who want to care for unweaned kittens.
