Ipswich Assist
About us
Hard times can hit anyone unexpectedly, in those times Ipswich Assist is here to help those in need within the Ipswich community and beyond.
How do we help?
- Emergency Relief Appointments: Each Tuesday and Friday we can provide 20 appointments to families in need. These appointments include an interview with one of our friendly volunteers to better understand the situation and how we can best help. Every family who attends an Emergency Relief appointment is provided a food hamper tailored to their family size and needs as well as other assistance deemed necessary.
- Free Hot Meal: Each Wednesday, a free hot meal is provided to anyone in need. Those in need are invited into our hall at 10.30am for morning tea and a hot beverage as well as a hot meal provided at 12pm. On average this service is being utilised by around 50 people each week.
- Streetlinks: In partnership with Central Church Ipswich, Streetlinks is held each June as an outreach event for those struggling within the community. In 2019, there were 40 stalls providing information on relief outlets within Ipswich and the wider community.
- Christmas Appeal: Each December, families who have attended one of our Emergency Relief Appointments during the year are invited to pack and collect a Christmas Hamper. In 2019, Ipswich Assist provided over 150 families with a Christmas Hamper and children’s gifts.
