About us

International SEVA is a small, 100% volunteer‑run nonprofit with no center, no paid staff, and no grants to date. We serve children ages 5 to 17 underprivileged and special needs children with their caretakers in the U.S., India, and Central Africa.

In the United States:

We provide basic school supplies, nutritious meals, protein snack bags, and hygiene kits to shelters and our clients. We advocate that no child, especially those with disabilities, be kept at home and forgotten, but instead be included in day centers, schools, and local community events. We encourage caretakers to bring children into safe spaces where they can learn, socialize, and be seen. Illiteracy is common among our low-income clients, so we assist in filling out SNAP, TANF and other forms.

In India:

Many children with autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, hearing or vision challenges are not routinely tested or identified early, and teachers often have limited training to recognize or support them. During five school visits in Feb & March 2026, I was discouraged from speaking to these children I recognized because they were assumed to “not understand” or “not respond,” yet those same children opened up with curiosity and simple questions. One girl with Down syndrome answered each question beautifully, surprising her teachers and leading me to conduct the Principal and staff training the next day.

  • Most of the children we serve have never had a hearing test, a vision test, or a developmental screening.

  • 95% had never tasted hot chocolate or milk before we served it to them with nutritious cookies (see photo).

  • Children we serve in rural villages do not receive milk, fruits, vegetables, or greens unless someone donates them.

In Zambia, Central Africa:

The President of another nonprofit supporting 500+ special needs children have requested me to come for 2+ weeks to train their teachers, parents, and children in daily routines, communication & dignity‑based care. They urgently need technology, braces for walking/sitting, and basic educational supplies. Three years ago, we donated a Mac computer at their request to help teachers plan schedules more efficiently and accurately, but we have not had the funding to support them further. I hope to visit them this September if resources allow, to provide mentorship, school supplies, and hygiene kits based on the funds we have.

We also dream of opening an International Thrift Store so we can sustain our programs. Currently we are turning away in-kind donations. A generous grant would finally allow us to accept donations, create a sustainable funding stream, and expand our support for clients to become self‑reliant.
