Children belong in families, not in orphanages and not stuck forever in foster care. Families need support. They can’t do it alone. We want to see orphaned and vulnerable kids raised in forever homes that are well-supported by engaged communities. Our mission is to reduce the barriers to Canadian families opening their homes to these kids and then to see these families supported so that they can care well for these children over the long-term. Loss of birth family results in deep wounds that take skilled and long-term interventions to heal. Through the support of individuals like you, we help Canadian families access therapies, counselling and support services that their children need to heal and thrive. Although our focus is on directly supporting families to open their homes to kids, we intentionally invest in engaging and equipping communities to come alongside these families, understand the challenges and be capable of providing support. A huge piece of that puzzle is to understand the unique needs and challenges of these kids and families. Trauma-informed supports, operating through the lens of compassion changes lives, communities and generations. So many of the challenges facing our society can be tied back to childhood traumas and broken families. Together, we can change that!
