Our Mission is to enable individuals who are blind, DeafBlind, have low vision or combined hearing and vision loss to live, work and thrive in their community of choice. Helen Keller Services is comprised of two divisions:

Helen Keller National Center (HKNC), a national program headquartered in Sands Point, N.Y. provides services to youth and adults who are DeafBlind across the United States. HKNC is an Act of Congress, the only national program providing comprehensive vocational rehabilitation services to youth (16 and older), working-age adults and seniors (55 and better) with combined hearing and vision loss. Our national network is comprised of 10 regional offices and a team of DeafBlind specialists and youth services coordinators across the country as well as two Community Services Programs in New York and California and a comprehensive center-based vocational and rehabilitation program in Sands Point, NY .

Helen Keller Services for the Blind (HKSB), provides services to individuals who are blind or have low vision in the five boroughs of New York and Long Island, is headquartered in Brooklyn with additional locations in Hempstead and Islandia. Our services range from early intervention, a preschool in Brooklyn for children with vision loss, autism, and developmental disabilities, youth services, vocational rehabilitation, and training and support for seniors.

What truly sets Helen Keller Services apart is not just our approach; it's our unwavering commitment to fostering independence, confidence, and championing seamless community integration. We are dedicated to enabling individuals to secure jobs, gain the skills they want, and most importantly, to live independently, transcending the boundaries that blindness, DeafBlindness, and low vision often impose. From the very beginning, starting with preschool children who face vision loss, autism, and developmental challenges, all the way to supporting seniors in their golden years, we are there every step of the way. Our continuum of training spans a lifetime, ensuring that dreams and aspirations are not mere fantasies, but tangible goals that can be achieved. By supporting Helen Keller Services, you are making the dreams and aspirations of those in the DeafBlind, Blind, and Low Vision community a top priority. You are paving the way for them to not only live and work in their chosen communities but to thrive and contribute meaningfully. Your generosity empowers them to grasp the reins of their own lives, break down barriers, and forge pathways to success. Join us in turning aspirations into achievements, and let's create a world where every individual can live life on their terms.
