Venezuela's humanitarian crisis has reached unprecedented levels with inflation rates of 3 digits, and a stagnant labour market, 90% of Venezuelans live in poverty (less than $1.25 per day). It is not a surprise that more than 8 million Venezuelans have left the country. 

Healing Venezuela is a UK-registered charity focused on alleviating the health crisis in Venezuela. We do it through a series of programmes aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals such as: 

- Supporting Junior Doctors. In Venezuela junior doctors earn $75 per month at most, but as 50% of senior doctors have left the country, they are at the forefront of medical care in state hospitals. This is why we have a programme to support doctors in 8 key hospitals in different regions of Venezuela.   (as of to date, more than 400 junior doctors have completed their studies and we have been supporting them all the way through. 

- Food Security. Based on the latest statistics, malnutrition in Venezuela is around 26% and the most affected are children and elderly people. Since 2019, Healing Venezuela has been providing breakfast, lunch, and a healthy snack to more than 300 children in impoverished areas of Venezuela.

- Clean Water and Sanitation. Venezuela has vast water reserves but the quality of the water that reaches hospitals is very poor producing deaths, especially in newborn babies. This is why Healing Venezuela has installed 6 water treatment plants in large hospitals avoiding tragic losses of lives. 

- Reproductive Health. As access to awareness on reproductive health in Venezuela is not available, unwanted pregnancies, gender violence, and slavery have skyrocketed in Venezuela as well as mortality rates at birth. The last statistics published by the government show an increase of 65% in mortality rates in pregnancy of which, most are teenagers. Since 2018, Healing Venezuela has been working with an organisation on the ground that has helped more than 3,000 women to make conscientious choices about their reproductive health.
