About us

Established in 2005, Healing Hearts is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of abused, neglected and abandoned animals. Healing Hearts currently cares for dozens of horses who have come to us through dire situations, killpens, or slaughter bound. We provide them with the care and compassion that is necessary for their recovery. Healing Hearts takes on some of the most severe abuse cases, often working with SAVE Havasupai Horses, Maricopa County Sheriff's Department, Arizona Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Indian Affairs and other local law enforcement agencies. Farm Animals such as Horses, Mules, Donkeys, Pigs, Goats, and Sheep find sanctuary at our 10-acre rescue. We have been active with the rescue of pack horses & donkeys coming out of the Grand Canyon, Havasupai Falls, as well as Wild Horses in Arizona. The goal of Healing Hearts is to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the State of Arizona and to serve those animals who are the victims of abuse.Although Healing Hearts is a refuge where animals may live out their natural lives, they also have a chance to be adopted into new, loving homes. This allows Healing Hearts to serve a greater number as space becomes available at the ranch for other animals in need of our help.Programs:In 2013, Healing Healing created a one-of-a-kind program, unique to Arizona. "Books in the Barn" is designed for pre-k to school-aged children to practice, strengthen, and utilized their literacy skills in front of a rescue horse. This mutually beneficial program teaches trust for both child and horse, without fear or judgment. While being at the barn children also learn about horses and proper horse care; what they eat, time and management, natural training methods, tools used to groom them, and equipment used to ride.Schools, boys and girls clubs, troops, service groups, and at-risk children are welcome to participate in "Books in the Barn." Key Words: Horse Rescue, Equine Rescue, Pig Sanctuary, Salt River Wild Horses, Supai, Farm Sanctuary, Girl Scouts, Special Education, Community Programs, Training, Therapeutic Riding,
