About us
The Mission of the Ocean Grove Historic Preservation Society, Inc./Jersey Shore Arts Center (JSAC) is twofold: to save and restore the beautiful and historic 124-year-old building (the "old" Neptune High School) currently home to the Jersey Shore Arts Center, to operate the Arts Center in support of local artists and art educators and to provide professional opportunities and workspace to artists, arts educators, and community groups who develop cultural opportunities for the broader Jersey Shore community to experience and engage with the Arts.
The JSAC uses the high school classrooms as studio space for artists and art educators - over 16 art studio residents. Our goal is to provide affordable workspace for artists and educators and create a supportive community to cultivate their work and education efforts.
At the moment, our arts residents' offerings include the visual arts (painters, printmakers, photographers, and art restoration), music instruction, dance lessons, and instrument repair.
Our five creative performing arts venues allow for different collaborative efforts and unique programming spaces not available in this area of the Jersey Shore. These venues include a 450-seat Palaia Theater, 75-seat Herbst Theater, Third Floor Cafe and Kitchen, and our Main Lobby Visual Arts Exhibition areas.
