About us
The Hawker Typhoon Preservation Group is raising funds to rebuild a World War 2 aircraft, Hawker Typhoon, as a memorial to those involved with this important aircraft. The Hawker Typhoon played a key role in the run-up to D-Day and the subsequent Allied push towards Germany. Sadly, proportionally more pilots lost their lives flying the Typhoon than those flying aircraft in Bomber Command. However, their sacrifice is largely forgotten today. Why? Because, unlike the Spitfire and Lancaster, the public does not see a Hawker Typhoon flying - only one complete aircraft exists and it sits in a museum. In addition, there is no specific memorial to Typhoon crews in the UK. We aim to ensure that the men and women involved with the Hawker Typhoon are remembered by flying the rebuilt aircraft across the UK and educating the public through exhibits and educational outputs. The rebuild is not an easy task, as no one has done it before, but one section of the aircraft is already complete. By becoming a supporter or making a donation, you can help memorialize the brave pilots and crews of this iconic aircraft.
