At Gemini Rescue Service we are a not-for-profit organisation and are completely run by volunteers. At GRS we specialise in finding appropriate forever homes for pound dogs and surrendered animals and the assisted rehoming of animals for families who can no longer care for their pet. We also run two programs which we are very passionate about. Our Recovery and Respite Program allows families to keep their pets during times of hardship, avoiding unnecessary surrenders and allowing families to stay together! In this program, pets are looked after by a foster carer while families re-establish themselves in a safe home. Many of the people who reach out for this program are escaping domestic violent situations or are homeless. This program gives them an opportunity to be reunited with their beloved pet when they are ready. Our Last Litter Program offers free desexing to the mother of a litter when the owner surrenders the litter to GRS. This program ensures that there are less puppies looking for homes in the future which means less animals in our rescues and shelters. It also means that the mothers of these litters will never have to go through this hardship again. All vet work for the mother and litter are paid for by GRS and we find loving homes for all of the animals involved when they are ready to be rehomed.
