As the oldest greyhound rescue in New Jersey, Greyhound Friends of New Jersey (GFNJ) has been finding adoptive homes for greyhounds following their racing careers since 1986. With a reputation of accepting any greyhound in need of help, GFNJ quickly became the "go to" organization to accept and help dogs that were injured or became ill while at the track. In 2014, in response to the decline of dog racing in America, the GFNJ Board voted to amend its Mission Statement to include other breeds in order to help dogs in imminent threat of being destroyed. With the internet and social media providing a platform for rescue groups from around the world to learn about one another, GFNJ began getting requests from rescues in other countries. Our organization answered the call now transports dogs to the US from Spain, China, Oman, Qatar, South Korea Ireland and the UK.
