Garbo's German Shepherd Dog Rescue
About us
Garbo's German Shepherd Dog Rescue (GGSDR) is a non-profit volunteer organisation, dedicated to finding the right home for every dog in our care. We take in unwanted and ill-treated GSD's (GSD crosses) and provide shelter, care and medical treatment (if required) until we can find them a secure and loving home. We promote responsible dog ownership and provide an aftercare advice, support and guidance service for the new owner. We aim to raise public awareness of the responsibilities of owning a dog and the need for properly socialised dogs in our community.
We also continue to be responsible for the veterinary costs of all dogs that are either in foster care or who have been adopted with pre-existing conditions. This too makes a massive dent in our funds but we are so grateful to the owners / foster carers who have given these dogs a second chance.
All prospective new owners are vetted and home checked. This is to ensure that the home is safe for our dogs and so that we can get a better understanding as to which of our dogs will match your circumstances and lifestyle.
Garbo’s GSD Rescue is run entirely by unpaid volunteers, nevertheless; there is a huge amount of expenditure involved in kennelling costs, veterinary treatment, food and insurance etc. We do not receive any government funding and rely on fundraising activities and donations from supporters, sponsors and devotees of the breed. Please help us to continue to say "YES" to every German Shepherd Dog that needs our help. EVERY penny counts! Thank you
