We are a 501c3 that was formed in 2018 when our human society collapsed. Marion County has no animal shelter or provide any animal services. In 2020, the City of Jefferson added our nonprofit to the City budget in the amount of $13,000. In 2024, the County of Marion added our nonprofit to their budget. Our expenses total approximately $125,000 per year, and the balance comes from private donations. The care is provided via fosters and volunteers. FOJA helps with food and vet services. We are able to get puppies and dogs on transport to areas in the North, with our main channel being North Shore Animal League in New York. We are not as fortunate with kittens and cats. Those remain being cared for by volunteers and we have a heavy TNR program. We help those colony caretakers with food and vet services.
