Filey Cat Rescue is the Yorkshire Coast's largest feline welfare charity; rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing cats and kittens in need across the region and beyond. We're family-led and endlessly dedicated to our motto: Every Cat Counts.

1. Rescue — We respond to call-outs from members of the public and local authorities 24-hours-a-day, rescuing stray and feral cats and kittens from emergency situations, in which their health and/or well-being is jeopardised by abuse, neglect, abandonment or environmental dangers. We also work closely with housing associations and those affected by the cost-of-living crisis to take in cats and kittens whose owners — for any reason — can no longer look after them.
2. Rehabilitate — Rescued cats and kittens typically reside at our Little Heroes Sanctuary — an acre-wide garden, complete with 47 unique dwellings — where they receive first-class veterinary care, luxury accommodation, nutritious meals, and around-the-clock attention from devoted cat-lovers to make their rehabilitation and recovery as comfortable as possible.
3. Re-home — Whenever possible, we look to pair our rescued cats and kittens with the best “fur-ever homes” in the area, matching their unique requirements to the home environments of our applicants, either by way of our Fostering Scheme or through permanent adoption. In 2023, we re-homed over 280 cats and kittens to fabulous feline-friendly families up and down the country, and our target for 2024 is a whopping 500!
