We recognize that cat overpopulation and homelessness cannot be solved by adoption alone – there are too many cats, and not enough good homes. Therefore, our focus is spay & neuter programs – the only effective & humane solution. Based in Stratford & Perth County, Ontario, Feline Friends Network was founded in 2006 to humanely end the problems of cat overpopulation and homelessness in our community. We have three main programs: 1. TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) – Entire colonies of stray and feral cats are humanely trapped. Those cats too unsocialized to be adopted are spayed / neutered and vaccinated against disease by veterinarians, and then returned to their outdoor homes to live out their lives under the watchful eye of volunteer caregivers. In this way breeding and its accompanying nuisance behaviours such as spraying, yowling and fighting stop, and the population of each colony reduces over time. 2. Foster/Adoption – Feline Friends often comes across homeless cats that are adoptable (i.e. not feral) and in need of forever homes. We do our best to help them find permanent, indoor homes. While we look for forever homes for our furry friends, we place these cats into temporary foster care homes. Our foster families work with the cats to make sure they are ready for adoption. 3. Low-Income Spay/Neuter Assistance Program – For many people who are finding it difficult to make ends meet, having their pet spayed or neutered is not financially possible. We partner with a number of veterinary clinics to provide FREE spay / neuter surgery for qualifying Perth County residents in financial difficulty.
