Families4Families Inc (F4F) are a not-for-profit peer-led support network established by and for people with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and their families across regional/rural and metropolitan South Australia to share information, positive coping strategies, connections and mutual support. The term "family" refers to the network of people affected by ABI including the individual with ABI, together with his or her partner, parents, children, siblings, extended family and close friends who provide support. Families4Families began in 2013 and has been designed, developed and delivered by people with lived experience of ABI to share information, positive coping strategies, connection and mutual support. We have built an innovative peer-led support model, utilising the previously untapped passion, skill and deep knowledge of people with ABI and their families to support over 450 members with information and education sessions through Local Support Groups, social and special events. F4F offer the opportunity to learn from others who have been on the journey, hope by example and show a positive future for people with even the most severe disability.
