We are a group of stroke survivors who meet on Wednesdays at the Bidmead Community Centre. We welcome stroke survivors and their families. We have just started cooking dinners and supporting our members in their own homes too. The club is based in Littleham and meets on Monday and Wednesday from 10 am to 4 pm. The club do trips holidays swimming and much more in the community. These meetings allow people to do something social or just sit and read the paper quietly with a cup of coffee. You may be retired and looking for social and stimulating things to do, or perhaps have mobility or other health problems and would like to get out and about and mix with others, or maybe just have lunch.The club is friendly and supports one another in their recovery..An Exmouth-based club for stroke survivors and their friends and family has won the 'Outstanding Contribution to the Community' category of the South West Business and Community Awards 2022. Founded in 2009, Exmouth Stroke Survivors Club is a community group for people who have had a stroke and their family members and carers to share experiences and make friends. A spokesperson for the South West Business and Community Awards said: "We are inspired by the tireless work that you do to improve the lives of stroke survivors in your community. "The support you provide stroke survivors' families is vital. Well done!" A recent meeting (Exmouth Stroke Survivors Club) Club chairman Steve said: "We couldn't believe it. "We weren't expecting it... at the end of the day, it's not about awards to me, it's about actually stroke survivors themselves." Exmouth Stroke Survivors Club meets every Wednesday from 10.30am to 12.30pm at Bidmead Community Centre and has regular special events.
