About us
The Armed Services YMCA provides programs and services that strengthen military families, increase force resilience and bolster mission readiness. Military life requires sacrifice from those who serve and entire families. These unique challenges include low pay, isolation, deployments, frequent moves, spousal unemployment, and lack of access to affordable child care.
- Military children transfer schools 6-9 times by 12th grade. ASYMCA’s Operation Hero program provides support for those kids that struggle to adjust to military life.
- Military spouses face unemployment rates 6X that of their civilian counterparts and list lack of child care as one of the primary obstacles to employment. The ASY’s low or no-cost child care programs provide the opportunity for families to secure a necessary secondary income.
- 24% of military families experience food insecurity. In 2022 the ASYMCA distributed 2 Million pounds of food to military families.
- 4 in 10 military families report a sense of isolation. Every year our Operation Ride Home program sends families home for the holidays.
These families sacrifice so much in defense of our country and our freedom. The ASYMCA has been Strengthening Military Families since 1861. With your support we can continue. Please Vote Now!
