Adopt a Family Program of Northern California is a 501(c) 3 tax exempt organization committed since 2017, to helping local children and seniors in low-income families, foster care and transitional living centers by connecting the generosity of our donors to provide gifts. We rely on the generosity and financial commitments from our donors so we may bring smiles to children and well-being to the family. We offer annual and ongoing community outreach giving programs: Back to School Backpack Program, Birthday Magic, Christmas Gift Giving, Holiday Toy Drive, Domestic Abuse Assistance, First Responder & Law Enforcement Family Accident Assistance, Adopt a Senior & Children's Winter Coat Drive. Our staff is volunteers, no wages or salaries paid. Every dollar goes directly to operating the programs to help people or to purchase gifts. Our community outreach grows every year. In 2024 we gave gifts to 1,552 family profiles, each with one senior or up to seven children. We receive family referrals from trusted local agencies that already work with the people we serve. We respect the confidentiality of the families we serve and the donors who give. The list of referring agencies is not limited to and includes Sacramento County Office of Education, Mutual Housing, EA Family Services and Sierra Child Family Services. We have received the Starbucks Foundation Community Outreach Partner 2022 & 2024 award, and Non-Profit of the Month from the State of California Assembly, June 2023.
