New mothers need support and in the United States they are not receiving it. 

As one of the only industrialized countries that does not offer paid maternity leave we are seeing the effects of poor postpartum care on mothers and families all over the county. Increased mental health issues are just the beginning of the lack of support found, but that is where 4th Trimester Mission comes in.  

We are designed to encourage and empower women through pregnancy and early postpartum through our new mother meetups and postpartum doula home visit program.  Any mom giving birth in the Greater Wilmington, NC area can sign up for a free postpartum doula home visit where they will receive meals sponsored by Clean Eatz restaurant and a gift bag.  The doula is a bridge in care between the hospital and mom's first doctors appointment at 4-6 weeks postpartum. They are a wealth of knowledge on local resources and tips for mom and baby.  Pregnant and new mothers are also welcome to join us at our new mother meetups which are held in a private space, just for the mothers and their new babies.  This is a safe space for moms to try and get out of the house with baby for the first time and find social and emotional support.
