Woodside Wildlife Rescue (WWR) is a 501(c)(3) charity operating in Pass Christian, MS dedicated to the environmental support of indigenous wildlife along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Specializing in beavers, otters and raccoons. WWR is committed to supporting and rescuing these local animals when they run into conflict with human expansion and development.  We run a 24/7 hotline where residents can call when they find orphaned or injured wildlife and refuse to ignore the animal and just walk away. WWR sends volunteers to pick up the animal, transport it to the appropriate rehabilitation facility and feed/care for these animals until they are ready to released back into the wild. We network with local veterinarians and 7 other rescues on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi who specialize in other species. This is particularly important during hurricane season when many shore birds are injured in the storm event. We also respond to downed raptors (hawks, eagles, water birds, etc.) and get them the proper care and rehab before releasing them back into the wild when they are healed. As human expansion continues to displace and destroy wildlife habitat, it is important to support the wildlife to help ensure an ecological balance.
