Women Leading Baltimore (WLB) is a Baltimore City-based nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering girls ages 12–18 to lead beyond where they live and go to school. Through mentorship, community, and exposure to career and leadership opportunities, we create intentional spaces where girls can discover their strengths, find their voices, build meaningful relationships, and envision futures filled with possibility.

Our work is rooted in the belief that every girl deserves access to the relationships, resources, and experiences necessary to thrive, regardless of her background, neighborhood, or school. We primarily serve Black and Brown girls across Baltimore City, working to close opportunity gaps and ensure they have access to supportive networks and experiences that expand their sense of what is possible.

Our mission comes to life through two signature initiatives:

Girls, Ready to Lead is a nine-month leadership development and mentoring program that equips middle and high school girls with the confidence, skills, and relationships needed to navigate adolescence and prepare for life beyond high school. Through school-based programming, monthly Saturday meetups, mentorship, and interactive workshops, girls explore five core pillars: Identity, Community, Leadership, Opportunity, and Wellness. Participants strengthen their communication, self-advocacy, decision-making, and leadership skills while developing a strong sense of belonging.

Women in the Workplace introduces girls to careers, industries, and professional environments they may not otherwise experience. Through workplace visits, career exploration, and meaningful conversations with women across diverse professions, girls expand their professional networks, discover new pathways, and begin to envision themselves in spaces where they have historically been underrepresented.

In 2025, Women Leading Baltimore served 97 girls, providing opportunities to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and explore possibilities beyond their immediate communities. Our outcomes demonstrate the impact of intentional investment in girls: 100% of participating high school seniors graduated on time, 90% pursued postsecondary education or training, and 70% demonstrated increased self-confidence, goal-setting abilities, and sense of belonging.

Beyond these outcomes, our impact is reflected in girls who are learning to advocate for themselves, confidently express their ideas, build healthy relationships, and recognize the value of their lived experiences.

At Women Leading Baltimore, we are not simply preparing girls for their futures. We are investing in who they are today, ensuring they have the tools, relationships, and opportunities to lead in their schools, communities, workplaces, and beyond.
