Founded in 2010 by visual artist and photographer Andrea Maki, Wild Love Preserve engages public and private lands to address all facets of western wild horse conservation by bringing stakeholders from all sides together in a new light. From our longtime collaborative work with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) on public lands in Idaho to our adopted 225+ Challis-Idaho wild horses following the 2012 and 2019 Challis BLM roundups, future wild horses, and Wild Love’s permanently protected wildlife preserve in Oregon. Our pioneering conservation model engages the BLM, cattle ranchers, environmentalists, scientists, wildlife biologists, wild horse advocates, youth employment groups, and regional communities. Kindness, respect, conflict resolution, science, and education drive our mission to protect and preserve western wild horses in their natural habitat and nurture the legacy of respective indigenous ecosystems as an interconnected whole. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, 100% of all donations help with vital water projects, habitat restoration, removing old barb wire fencing and building miles of wildlife-friendly perimeter fencing so our 225+ wild horses can roam forever wild on thousands of acres of permanently protected habitat at Wild Love Preserve. We also have ranch equipment to purchase and repair, corrals to modify, and outbuildings to repair. Your support ensures and nurtures lasting wildness for generations to come.
