Imagine a world where your stories aren’t told. No books or films. Nothing about you, your family, or your culture. WestWords gives Western Sydney a voice. A space to be heard. We work with schools, emerging writers and community groups to develop and champion stories that are at the heart of Western Sydney. We aim to shine a light on literacy as a matter of dignity. It is a human right, a necessary tool to navigate our world. It’s also something quite beautiful. It is the gateway to our stories. Our work has been recognised in last year’s WSABE Awards – the Commbank Award for Excellence in Arts and Culture. Our Executive Director, Michael Campbell, was a finalist for the AAA City Removalist Outstanding Business Leader as well as a finalist for Philanthropy Australia’s Impact 25 Awards recognising people who are dedicated to realising positive social change. Our patrons are Her Excellency the Honorable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of NSW and her husband Mr Dennis Wilson.
