San Francisco Court Appointed Special Advocates Cover Photo
SFCASA is the only volunteer program in San Francisco that empowers everyday citizens to become officers of the court to serve as advocates and mentors to abused and neglected children in foster care. In an overburdened and under-funded social welfare system, foster children can slip through the cracks without caring and consistent adults to speak up on their behalf. SFCASA volunteers change that. They provide judges with the crucial information needed to make sound decisions that affect the lives of foster children. SFCASA volunteers have been especially persistent and creative during the pandemic to make sure foster youth's needs do not fall through the cracks, from food, health and safety to the technology tools necessary to continue their education and stay connected to family. SFCASA's VISION is that every child has a safe, loving home and is given the opportunity to thrive. Our MISSION is to transform the lives of abused and neglected foster youth by providing one consistent, caring volunteer advocate, trained to address each child’s needs in the court and the community. SFCASA is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. It is one of more than 900 affiliate agencies of the National CASA Association. SFCASA operates under the authority of, and according to guidelines established by, the Judicial Council of California and local rules of court.
