About us

At We Are Family, we believe that LGBTQ+ youth deserve not just to survive, but to thrive. For nearly 30 years, we've been South Carolina’s leading nonprofit supporting queer and trans young people through life-saving and life-affirming  programs that center community, safety, and joy. From free mental health therapy to leadership development, HIV prevention, and crisis support, every service we offer is provided at no cost -- because care should never come with a price tag.

In a state where LGBTQ+ youth often face isolation, discrimination, and limited access to affirming care, We Are Family stands as a fierce and loving community -- one that shows up when it matters most. Our new LGBTQ+ Community Center, the first in the SC Lowcountry, is a hub of healing, creativity, and connection. Your support fuels this vital work.
Every donation -- no matter the size -- makes a direct impact: providing therapy for a trans teen, helping a young person access their first binder or tuck kit, creating safer spaces to build confidence and community.
Join us! Stand with LGBTQ+ youth. Be part of a movement that’s saving lives and shaping a more just future!
