Waihī Beach Lifeguard Services Inc. has been keeping locals and visitors safe in the surf for over 90 years. Our dedicated volunteer surf lifeguards patrol across three locations – the Main Beach (North End), Island View, and Bowentown – covering 10km of coastline during the busy summer season. We also provide a 24/7 emergency Search and Rescue squad, responding year-round to coastal incidents in partnership with Police and other services.
We’re proud to run a thriving Junior Surf programme (ages 5–13), develop new lifeguards through Rookie and Patrol Support pathways, and deliver rescue-ready training for our frontline volunteers. Our community hub at the North End includes training spaces, event hosting, and The Deck Kitchen and Bar, open on summer weekends.
As a registered charity, we rely on grants, donations, and community fundraising to meet the rising costs of lifesaving equipment, training, and services. Every dollar helps keep our coastline safer and supports the volunteers who give their time to protect others.
