Since 1991, Voices for Children (VFC) of North Central Florida, Inc., has helped provide for the unmet needs of abused, neglected,

abandoned, vulnerable, or otherwise disadvantaged children in Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion, and Sumter Counties. The children

are in foster care or have been adjudicated as independent. We are committed to helping children grow strong and thrive,

especially those at risk, by creating opportunities that lead to a brighter future.

Programs Include:

Basic Needs: Clothing, eyeglasses, diapers and car seats, furniture, beds/bedding, and other items, usually requested on an

emergency basis. VFC also provides gifts at Christmas and funds for reading programs and other resources that support a child's

well-being.

--Kids Aging Out/Independent Living - Assists young people who will be aging out of the State of Florida's custody. Support begins

when these children reach the age of 16, with VFC paying for various needs as they move forward to living independently (security

deposits, transportation costs, utility deposits, etc.). We also provide educational materials covering how and where to pay bills,

budget formulation tips, and other information for them to survive independently.

--Normalcy Program - Funds are available to provide for activities such as sports camps, scouting participation, prom/homecoming

events, music lessons, and additional activities. Activities not paid for by any other organization that foster personal growth and social

development.

--Scholarship and Vocational Program - Provides funding for post-secondary education and vocational training for young people

currently or formerly in foster care, or those adjudicated as dependent. These youth often face significant financial and emotional

challenges, and our program helps remove the financial barriers that stand in the way of their success. VFC also provides a monthly

food voucher and will pay for all training supplies (computers, books, specialized clothing/equipment, etc.) recommended by the

educational institution.

Voices for Children of North Central Florida is a nonprofit supported by generous donations from individuals, clubs, corporations, and

fraternal organizations. Our dedicated Board members—who serve entirely as volunteers—host two annual Gala Events. We employ

one part‑time staff member and rent a single storage unit. Our monthly meetings, held as needed, take place in a facility that donates

space. All remaining funds go directly to programs that support the children.
