About us
NO MORE women should die at the hands of someone they once loved.
In 2023, 58 Australian women died from intimate partner violence. That’s more than one woman a week.
We must break the silence and speak out against violence. Every woman who has died is one too many. We are calling on every Australian to stand with us and say Enough is Enough!
Uniting Vic.Tas help women to escape violence and rebuild their lives. We provide safe housing and wrap-around services for 12-months after they leave their abusive partner. During this time, we support women and their families to adjust, reclaim their independence, revive their confidence, recover their strength and begin again.
Violence happens to women of all ages and stages of life – but it is much harder for an older woman to rebuild her life. Older women can be more vulnerable because of their life journey. Maybe they weren't in the workforce full time, meaning they've got no, or very little, superannuation. Maybe they've suffered financial abuse, or their partner has taken the house. Uniting has a special program to support women over 55 who have left a violent partner and are starting over.
There is no excuse for abuse. Together, we CAN stop violence against women. Together we CAN support women to live safe and happy lives.
