KOALA NUMBERS have declined since 2018 by an estimated 30% overall and 40% in NSW, after the devastating bushfires of 2019/20. Koalas are now officially listed as endangered in NSW & QLD and as vulnerable elsewhere.

OUR MISSION is to save and protect the koalas of Port Stephens through rescue, treatment, rehabilitation and release, so they can continue to live and thrive in their natural environment. Our veterinary staff and highly trained volunteers are committed to protecting and caring for this most treasured, iconic Australian marsupial.

THE HOSPITAL opened in 2020 after many years working from very basic facilities. Triple licensed, with world’s best practice standards and state-of-the-art facilities and medical equipment, we  rescue and treat not only sick and injured koalas but also other native wildlife.

YOU CAN HELP with the high costs of rescue, treatment, feeding and housing a koala in care and in doing so, help protect our precious koalas for future generations.
