The Robert Connor Dawes Foundation is fighting to improve the odds for children and young people with brain cancer. Paediatric brain cancer is the no. 1 disease killer of children and young people. Paradoxically there has been little investment in research, which means that survival rates have barely changed over the last 30 years. Few new effective treatments mean that 80% of children diagnosed with high grade tumours still lose their battle within 5 years, leaving the other 20% with lifelong deficits. The Robert Connor Dawes Foundation supports high-impact research, providing in-home care and supporting the next generation of researchers to bring world-leading trials to Australia. Through the sad experience of our inspiring CEO and Founder and Connor’s mother, Liz Dawes, we know what needs to be done to fight paediatric brain cancer. We know it’s complex and will take time, but thanks to our supporters, our achievements tell us we are already making a difference. Together we can fight the no. 1 disease killer of children and young people.
