The Moving on Project is a specialist counselling & mental health service, supporting young people aged 11-25 years from Gosport, Fareham, Portsmouth & the surrounding areas for the last 30 years. Our aim is to provide an early intervention service to prevent the development of more serious problems caused by mental or physical ill health or other challenging circumstances, by providing a professional counselling service to young people, regardless of difference, background or identity.

We want to be able to support every young person in our community who wants counselling. Sadly they are often facing barriers such as long waiting lists & financial constraints. Many of our clients come from deprived & disadvantaged areas, where there are long waiting lists for mental health services. The areas that we work in include communities that are ranked in the top 20% most deprived in England, and where up to 38.5% of students are eligible for free school meals. The young people that we see from these areas, face long NHS waiting lists. This often means that they have been waiting to be supported for some time and their difficulties have escalated.
