Hugs is a charity that rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes, unwanted, abandoned and abused horses and ponies and also provides well-being support to children, young people, the elderly and military veterans. Situated in a unique, nurturing, safe environment, our well-being support provides for a range of needs including; emotional, physical and mental health support, low self-esteem, social isolation, learning and developmental needs e.g. poor communication skills, life transitions, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), trauma, self-harm and those at risk of suicide. We teach life skills, coping strategies and resilience for lifelong impact through therapeutic learning, animal assisted interventions and ecotherapy.

At Hugs, we work alongside rescue animals who have also faced trauma and often people see themselves in the animals. Our activities take place in a nature-based environment, enabling the beneficiary to immerse themselves in nature and provide an escape, safe environment and/or a happy distraction from the troubles in their lives. This is what makes us unique with such positive outcomes, an experienced and highly qualified team, great facilities, our rescue animals and a natural environment.
