The Hooff House Rescue and Sanctuary
About us
We opened in July 2024 but I did private rescue for many years before that since at least 2012. Before that I would help rehome strays I found and take them to the local shelter. Our rescue's mission is to save cats at risk of being euthanized in shelters or dying on the streets and getting them into homes or transported to another rescue. We also help people stay with their pets by providing temporary sanctuary for owners and their pets, and providing pet food to the community. We need money and supporters to continue our mission. Our dream is to have a concrete building to house cats that need a home environment, for volunteers to stay, and provide sanctuary for Felv+ cats as well as provide sanctuary during hurricanes. We have brought in a helped over 100 cats the past few years before and after we received out 501c3.We currently have a total of 50 cats between fosters, the rescue property, and my home. Two cats are Felv+ and currently living in a catio in my backyard. One cat is FIV+Two cats are wobbly. Two cats have asthma, two are blind and deaf.I met our benefactor, Edward back in late 2022 through a rescue friend. He helped vet and get all but two cats fixed and rehomed from a colony where they were in danger. His late sister left him money to help save cats and she always wanted to start a sanctuary but never got around to it. Unfortunately money has started getting tight. On Dec. 9 our benefactor, Edward Champley suddenly passed away from pneumonia and metastatic lung cancer. He made our dream a reality and now I want to continue what he started. But I can't do it without help.
