We’re a community transport organisation aiming to reduce loneliness and isolation in Broseley, Much Wenlock and surrounding areas. Most of our members are elderly, have a disability, mobility restrictions or they’re terminally ill.

Our minibuses take members shopping, to clubs, fitness classes and on social trips. This helps members retain independence, provides enrichment, social opportunities and friendship whilst keeping active. As part of our community car service, our volunteers drive members to their appointments (usually medical) ensuring they can access the medical attention they need. Our total social value is estimated to be £1,633,370!

Demand for our services and membership increases each year. Last year we provided over 4,500 community car journeys and almost 1,500 minibus journeys. If members can’t go shopping because we don’t have a volunteer driver, it’s not just an inconvenience. It can be the difference between not seeing someone that week, not speaking to someone, and not having food in the cupboards to eat. It’s boredom, it’s loneliness and it’s sadness. 95% of members recently told us in a survey “they wouldn’t be able to receive the same level of support without us, or they would struggle.” When we resumed our services after covid-19 lockdowns we saw first-hand the significant negative impact of isolation for our members’ mobility and mental health.
