Being born with a hand disability can be isolating for new parents and presents unique challenges for a child as they grow up. A hand difference, aka hand difference, can range from the absence of one or all fingers on a hand. Aussie Hands provides support, encouragement and information to children born with a hand difference and their families. We aim to ensure that children with a hand difference and their parents do not feel alone. Aussie Hands supports children born with a hand difference to navigate issues including bullying and developing positive body image and self-esteem. Aussie Hands provides support and information to parents along the lifespan of their child, all the way from pregnancy through to the teenage years and beyond. We ensure that they have their questions answered and a safe place to share their challenges and experiences raising a child with a disability. Help Aussie Hands continue to build a supportive Australian hand difference community. We hold regular social gatherings Australia wide which greatly reduces the isolation experienced by the children and enables them to build supportive relationships and self-confidence. During the social gatherings, parents can ask questions, receive support and gain a sense of hope about the future lives of their children We aim to ensure that people feel supported and understand that they are not alone.
