When you suffer an injury to the area of your brain where your language is stored, it is like an earthquake has gone through your library. You may struggle to find words, to talk to people, to understand what they say, to read, to write and to use numbers. You know what you are thinking, but you can't find the words and put them together to express yourself. It is hard to imagine how this would impact your life and how frightening this would be... This is called aphasia.

AphasiaNZ exists to support with aphasia and their families/whānau. We provide information and advice, home visits, Kōrero Clubs, and raise awareness in the community.
