At Sydney Zoo we are committed to protecting wildlife and wild places. We aim to restore the health of our local ecosystems through native rewilding programs, habitat protection, and education. By reintroducing locally extinct species and strengthening populations of threatened wildlife, we’re helping to rebuild the balance of Australia’s natural landscapes.

At Sydney Zoo we also participate in conservation breeding programs to create insurance populations for species at risk, ensuring their survival into the future. Beyond Australia, we collaborate with trusted organisations to protect wildlife and habitats globally, from safeguarding chimpanzees in Burundi to reducing human–wildlife conflict in South Africa.

Closer to home, we inspire our community to create native habitats in their own backyards and partner with conservationists to tackle challenges such as marine debris along Australia’s coastlines.
